Future Expansion of E-Mobility and Change of the Powertrain Components

Before Prius as a first affordable HV passenger car in 1997, almost all powertrain of automobile have been used pure ICE. Increasing E-mobility after Prius, I would like to make a future of it, and also comment how powertrain components as main elements are changing for E-mobility.

Latest Developments in Laser Cutting, Welding and Coating

In the area of coating, hybrid techniques compensate heat transfer losses. Therewith, record rates are achievable during laser powder coating. A new industrial plant is presented. Furthermore, coating with warm and cold wire will be described and latest processing heads will be presented. A new industrial application using wire coating will be shown and it will also be presented that the cutting speed can be nearly doubled by the scanning technology.

Dr. Beyer is the director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS in Dresden/Germany, which engages in application-oriented research and development in the area of laser and surface technology. Furthermore, he is full Professor for Laser and Surface Technology and Executive Director of the Institute of Manufacturing Technology of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technische Universitaet Dresden.
