For tire rubber materials, fillers such as silica are compounded to improve tire characteristics such as rolling resistance and wear. In order to explore the design guidelines on rubber material morphology (also called topology) such as filler dispersion state, we utilized materials informatics consisting of machine learning and simulation.

He joined Yokohama Rubber Co. in 1985. Since joining the company, he has engaged in research on numerical simulation and data mining of tires and rubber materials. In addition, he was Chairman of the Computational Mechanics Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2014 and is currently Chairman of the Kanto CAE Konwakai.
