Research and Development of Carbon-based Pt-free Catalysts

The development of Pt-free cathode catalyst is quite important in terms of the globalization of proton exchange membrane fuel cells. This lecture mention the recent progress in Tokyo Tech on the research and development of Pt-free cathode catalyst including the catalytic performance and mechanistic studies.

High Performance Perfluorinated Membranes and Ionomers for PEFCs

Further improvement in MEA performance is necessary for the full-fledged commercialization of PEFCs, including FC vehicles. Polymer electrolytes, which are employed in membranes and electrodes, play a key role in the development of MEAs. This presentation covers the state of the art development of polymer electrolytes in AGC.

Current Status and Future Development of Asahi-Kasei's Alkaline Water Electrolysis System

Asahi-Kasei has developed advanced alkaline water electrolysis system based on our world top-level brine electrolysis technologies. Using the system, CO2-free hydrogen can be made at high efficiency. We try to enter the European P2G Market with the world largest system (2,000 Nm3-H2/hr/unit). On this presentation, we will introduce the backgrounds, the current status and the future of the work.

Taketoshi Usui graduated from Kyoto university in March, 1988. He joined Asahi Kasei Corp. in April, 1988. He engaged in the development of thermosetting resins and electronic materials.
Since 2010 he has engaged in research, development and planning of energy related materials and systems. He was appointed to current position in April, 2014.
