Activity to Establish Reuse Business Utilizing EV Battery

4R Energy recovers EV batteries that retain a capacity of 60 to 80% after use, measures their performance, and convert them into a product optimized for that level of performance. A plant in Namie, Fukushima was put in operation in March 2018 to launch a reuse business. Presentation covers previous activities and future plan.

JAMA Lithium-ion Battery Joint Collection System in Japan

Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JAMA) constructed and operated a safety net system since October 2018 which collects and recycles used drive lithium-ion batteries from Japanese automobile manufacturers from the market and has been operating. The explains the safety net system together with the entire automobile recycling system in Japan.

Joined Toyota Motor Corporation in 1991. Involved in planning and launch operations for the enforcement of Japan`s End-of-Life Vehicle Recycling Law in January 2005, and in the building of a nickel metal hydride battery recycling system within Toyota. Appointed chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association`s Recycling & Waste Reduction Subcommittee in 2015. Helped establish the Japan Foundation for Advanced Auto Recycling (j-FAR) in 2017, and a joint recovery system for lithium-ion battery manufacturers in 2018.
