Development of Highly Durable and Active Catalysts for PEFC

Toward the establishment of low cost, high durability and high efficiency for fuel cell vehicles, the Pt catalysts supported on ceramic nanoparticles have been developed. The catalysts have unique microstructure, electronic structure and interface structure, which enhance the durability and activity of polymer electrolyte fuel cells.

講演者プロフィール Speaker Profile
Dr. Kakinuma graduated from Tokyo University of Science in March, 1998. He is currently the professor of Fuel Cell Nanomaterials Center, University of Yamanashi. He engages in researches for electrocatalysts and polymer of polymer electrolyte fuel cells. He is responsible for leading the NEDO Feasibility Study Program.

Water Electrolysis Technology to Introduce Renewable Electricity

Water electrolysis is a conversion technology from electricity to energy carriers (energetic materials).
So, it's a solution of electric power grid imbalance and renewable electricity utilization in non-electric power sector. This presentation will conclude present technologies, issues, and future direction of alkaline water electrolysis and polymer electrolyte water electrolysis which are under developing for large scale systems.

He finished master's degree at Yokohama National University.in 1989 and joined Hitachi Ltd., Hitachi Research Laboratory to develop molten carbonate fuel cells (MCFCs). He got doctor in Engineering degree in 1998 and moved to Yokohama National University as a research associate. He had studied stability of MCFC cathode material, degradation and new materials for polymer electrolyte fuel cells and non-humidified electrolyte membrane for mesothermal polymer electrolyte fuel cells applied ionic liquids. He has been a professor of the Faculty of Engineering since 2011 and a principal investigator of the Institute of Advanced Sciences since 2015 at Yokohama National University. His present major studies are water electrolysis and electrohydrogenation of toluene for energy carrier production from renewable electricity.
