Despite being a critical part of the economic recovery post-pandemic in many countries, the soft drinks industry continues to face a complex and evolving regulatory risk horizon. This presentation will explore the threats and the opportunities for the domestic, regional and global industry.
Geoff Parker is the CEO of the Australian Beverages Council, the leading peak body in Australia for non-alcoholic beverages. He is also Asia Pacific Regional Executive Director of the International Council of Beverages Associations. Mr. Parker has nearly 30 years of involvement in boardrooms including global training companies, national not-for-profits, arts organizations, public companies, statutory authorities and international associations in both director and chair roles.
Mr. Parker served as President of the ICBA from 2010-2014 and continues on the Executive Committee of the ICBA and is also a board member of the International Council of Bottled Water Associations.

PET bottles are recycled at a far higher level in Japan than anywhere in the world. The lecturer will present a short history of the traditional efforts and talk about the characteristics of the PET recycling including a unique consumer behavior, institutional concepts, current situation and new stages in this country.
Takuya Akino joined Yoshino Kogyosho Co., Ltd. as an employee in 1980 and was assigned later to the research and development department, sales department and environment office in the company. In 2018, he was transferred to the Council for PET Bottle Recycling and has been working as executive director for the Council.

The pandemic hurt the polyester chain much, but the bottle-grade PET sector seemed to have escaped relatively unscathed. By 2021, global growth is once again soaring, but the industry is also facing push-back from sustainability efforts. How will the PET industry evolve vis-a-vis recycled fibres & PET?
Salmon Lee watches broadly the whole polyester chain from paraxylene to downstream sectors, and maintains a strong interest in the PTA and MEG markets of the Chinese-speaking world, which he believes forms the core of this chain. Since 2020, Salmon has extended his coverage into the recycled fibres sphere, relating it to the global sustainability effort and its impact on the virgin polyester markets.

GOYO Foods Industry Co., Ltd. worked on visualization and automation to improve the profit model and productivity by introducing business intelligence and IoT. As a result, it visualizes the movements inside the factory in real time, as well as analyze the productivity and cost structure. Consequently, profitability has improved, KPIs have increased the motivation of employees by indicating objective performance, and we are able to work actively on further automation.
Yuki Tamura joined GOYO Food Industry Co., Ltd. in 1999 as a part-time worker. In 2004, he became a full-time employee and took over as a factory and production manager. At that time, he was selected to be the new office-factory head startup and its extension project. Fast forward to 2020, he became the general director of the Technology Strategy Office. Currently, he is promoting a smart factory project, and also remotely striving forward for a local production project in Thailand in the COVIT-19 circumstance.

Consequently, profitability has improved, KPIs have increased the motivation of employees by indicating objective performance, and we are able to work actively on further automation.
Yuki Tamura joined GOYO Food Industry Co., Ltd. in 1999 as a part-time worker. In 2004, he became a full-time employee and took over as a factory and production manager. At that time, he was selected to be the new office-factory head startup and its extension project. Fast forward to 2020, he became the general director of the Technology Strategy Office. Currently, he is promoting a smart factory project, and also remotely striving forward for a local production project in Thailand in the COVIT-19 circumstance.

Geoff Parker is the CEO of the Australian Beverages Council, the leading peak body in Australia for non-alcoholic beverages. He is also Asia Pacific Regional Executive Director of the International Council of Beverages Associations. Mr. Parker has nearly 30 years of involvement in boardrooms including global training companies, national not-for-profits, arts organizations, public companies, statutory authorities and international associations in both director and chair roles.
Mr. Parker served as President of the ICBA from 2010-2014 and continues on the Executive Committee of the ICBA and is also a board member of the International Council of Bottled Water Associations.

The lecturer will present a short history of the traditional efforts and talk about the characteristics of the PET recycling including a unique consumer behavior, institutional concepts, current situation and new stages in this country.
Takuya Akino joined Yoshino Kogyosho Co., Ltd. as an employee in 1980 and was assigned later to the research and development department, sales department and environment office in the company.
